Do not let your hearts be troubled

Jn 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Jesus left us with peace through His sacrifice and through the blessings of the Holy Spirit. Yet too often in life we look for the peace "as the world gives", forgetting to look to the ultimate source of peace. How easily we get distracted in such a busy world. God loves us and holds us even when we are looking elsewhere. Yet what a feeling in those rare moments when we do manage to look up into His eyes and feel him move through us. It is those moments when we realize that it is God's eternal love and not this world's daily troubles that is most important.
